Shirahama Shrine, located in Hakosaki Shirahama, has reached a remarkable milestone—its 400th anniversary.
This year’s celebration was held for the first time in the rain, and for the first time the portable shrine was carried into the sea. The powerful and dynamic scene captivated everyone who came to watch.

The shrine has a long history, said to have begun when a wooden plaque from the mountains drifted down and was enshrined here.
To commemorate the 400th year, the Shirahama Tiger Dance, Tagō Lion Dance, and the Seven Lucky Gods paraded through the town, filling the streets with vibrant energy and celebration.
Despite the rain, the festival became a truly special event—one filled with the heartfelt spirit of all participants.
